Can I Wash Snoogle Pillows?
Pregnancy pillows are something we don’t regularly wash. I’ve washed my down sleeping pillows. If you take look at the Snoogle care tag you will see where it says “do not wash.” But as you know most pillows can and need to be washed randomly.
During my first pregnancy, I could remember that wasn’t a problem but it turns out my baby also love pregnancy pillows.
She makes wonderful little nests (which is what she calls it when she sits in it), and when she is in my bed in the middle of the night and also happens to have a leaky diaper…well, there is pee on my precious pillow. Not washing becomes inevitable.
How To Wash Snoogle Pillow?
You’ll need
- Free Mild detergent
- Front-loading machine
- Tennis balls
I decided to pop in the pillow with the case still on (it needed to be washed anyway), added some free and clear detergent and washed it on gentle cycle. I didn’t want too much twisting to happen.
We have a front loading washer at home, and I would recommend only trying this with a front loader. I imagine an agitator could likely cause some issues with the size and shape of the pillow.
Washing on gentle of course left quite a bit of water in the pillow, I squeezed out some excess then tossed it in the dryer with a couple of tennis balls.
I’ve been using this trick to help keep pillows lofty in the dryer for a while. It gives them a pretty good beating and keeps the fill from bunching up. Then, I ran the dryer on a low heat temperature for two cycles for a total of about 2 hours.
The pillow was mostly dry, so I let it air dry for a bit longer. If your pillow still feels damp, toss it in the dryer again to ensure there are no wet spots. Since my first foray into washing my pregnancy pillow, I have also used wool dryer balls which seem to help decrease drying time even more. I also love these fun hedgehog balls!
That is it! I’m going, to be honest with you. I took a chance. I’m not sleeping on a pillow that smells like pee. My experiment was successful as I tried it multiple times, Of course, you should wash at your discretion, but I’ve had success with this trick on many occasions.
When necessary, those pregnancy pillows can be washed when done in a certain way. Just take it easy and slow, also ensure it’s fully dry and you should be good to go. I figured I couldn’t be the only one out there stumped by this conundrum and wanted to share!
